| Pattern SearchBBE contribution to PBIL in Lyon, France |
This form allows you to perform a pattern search in a list of sequences
selected with WWW-Query. The syntax is the one
used by the UNIX text editor ed. For fuzzy searches, use square
brackets to indicate a position with many possibilities. In the case of
proteins, you can use the expression [A-Y] to match any possible amino-acid.
The search is realized only on the direct strand of the sequence and is
case-insensitive. For example, you may type [GM]PV[WT][RHFI]I[ILG] or
[gm]pv[wt][rhfi]i[ilg].
Warning: the ONLY characters recognized are the four DNA bases
(A, C, G, T) and the 20 amino-acids with the one-letter code
(D, E, K, R, H, N, Q, S, T, I, L, V, F, W, Y, C, M, A, G, P). You CANNOT use
wildcards and/or common abreviations for purins, pyrimidins and so on. Also
gaps are not allowed.
